What is Christian Counseling?

Major Focus

Christian counseling is a type of treatment wherein the counseling process incorporates Christian concepts and values. It is predicated on the idea that a person's physical, psychological, and spiritual health are intertwined and that a relationship with God is crucial to recovery. Christian counselors assist clients in comprehending and overcoming their issues by utilizing the Bible, prayer, and other spiritual activities. The objective is to assist clients in developing on a spiritual, emotional, and cerebral level as well as in their feeling of purpose and fulfillment in life. Many challenges, including as anxiety, depression, addiction, marital conflicts, and sorrow, can be addressed through Christian counseling.

While some may believe the Scriptures alone should be sufficient for our walk in faith, others choose to supplement their walk through Christian Counseling. (CC). While CC cannot take the place of Scriptures, it does seek to strengthen one's faith - primarily through identifying how one's behaviors and beliefs intersect with God's teachings. In this way, CC is a practical step in learning what it means to embrace God's will and direction for one's life. At the heart of Christian counseling is the goal to strengthen one's faith, which can help be achieved through the therapeutic alliance.
